๐Ÿ’ป Computing

I’ve been getting some code commits done for DSub - an opensource android music player for Airsonic/Subsonic. I’ve not touched android development for a few years and it’s interesting how little has changed. Android Studio is a great bit of software, although some of its default keyboard shortcuts don’t do what you would expect.

The project needs a bit of modernising. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s scope to use Kotlin, as Java null checking is boring.

๐ŸŽผMusic

Son’s of Kemet were amazing at Koko. They’re an odd line up - 2 drummers, tuba and sax - but it really works in producing infectious rhythms and punch memorable hooks. It was also a really nice mixed crowd, although still very ‘Guardian’.

๐Ÿ“š Books

This week it was Malcolm Gladwell’s Tipping Point. Gladwell’s books are regularly on “must read” lists but I’m not entirely sure why. He presents interesting insights, but as other reviewers have pointed out, this would probably have been better at about half the length.
