✈ Travel

We did a quick city break to Berlin, mostly to pop into Atonal festival in the amazing Kraftwerk power station, but also just because I’ve never been there before.

GPS tracks of Berlin

We spent most of our time around Friedrichshain/Kreuzberg, where there don’t actually seem to be any German people. The predominant language (including restaurant menus) seems to be English, followed by French and then Italian.

I definitely can’t say I loved Berlin. It’s been ages since I’ve been to a bar/club and come out smelling of smoke. It seems you have to go to Berlin to get that experience these days. The heavy reliance on cash just seems old-fashioned now. It blew their minds in one restaurant that you could do NFC payments by phone in England.
